Illustrations - Scéal
Mucci Mac Dathó
Shari's most recent piece of work was to rewrite and illustrate
a children's book based on an old celtic legend. The result was
Scéal Mucci MacDathó a book which was partly inspired
by her work at An Cultúrlann Mhac Adaim-Ó Fiaich.
There she began working on the children's material and activities
for Irish language schools in the North of Ireland.
While researching stories for these activities, she came upon a
large collection of Irish legends, most of which had passed out
of modern thought. One of these stories was about an ancient King,
his beloved dog Ailbe, and the adventures that they were to meet.
This story, a part of the Ulster Cycle of tales, was reworked and
later illustrated. After spending many hours with a bowl of soup
and her watercolours in An Glas Café, she finally completed
Scéal Mucci MacDathó. You can see some sample illustrations
from this book below.
